2020-2021 Louise Small Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Open

Louise Small Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The Louise Small Foundation is accepting applications for college or technical education scholarships. The scholarships are only to Dove Creek or Dolores County High School graduates, and can be used for any accredited college, university, or technical school. In addition, any DCHS alumni taking classes for volunteer efforts, such as EMT or firefighter training, are eligible to apply.

While the scholarship is limited to graduates of Dolores County School District, the Foundation makes no distinction on type of college or tech school, and offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate study, in or out of state.

To obtain a scholarship application, write the Louise Small Foundation, Box 351, Dove Creek, CO 81324 or leave a message at 970-739-1236. Applications must be received by September 15, 2020. They are also available at the Dove Creek Press and can be downloaded from the article link below.

Louise Small touched many lives in the community as a teacher, welfare director, neighbor, friend, and concerned citizen. Education was very important to Louise and she realized that most students need assistance in accomplishing their desire for a higher education. She recognized that many students failed to achieve their potential, not for the lack of intelligence or ambition, but for lack of finances. This was the purpose of setting up the Louise Small Foundation several years before her death.
