Kiara Lingenfelter Qualifies for the 3A State Golf Competition
Kiara Lingenfelter qualifies once again for the Class 3A State Golf tournament which will be held at Eagle Ranch Golf Club in Eagle on May 20-21.
Kiara and the Dolores High School Girls Golf team played the tricky Dos Rios Golf course during the Class 3A Region 4 tournament in Gunnison on May 7.
There were 10 teams represented at the regional tournament, and the Dolores High School Girls Golf team placed 3rd with a team score of 292, just short of the 2nd placed finish to advance their team to state. (Colorado Academy placed 1st with a team score of 223, and Vail Mountain placed 2nd with a team score of 273.) However, the girls scored well enough to qualify for state individually.
Dimery Plewe was the 2nd individual state qualifier with a score of 89.
Kiara shot a 94 securing her place at state as the 4th individual state qualifier.
Kalli Partington scored 109, becoming the 11th individual state qualifier.
And Kailey Case’s score of 114 placed her as the 1st individual alternate for the state competition.
This has been another great season, and the team’s hard work and dedication has paid off as this is the first time in the program’s history for more than one or two members of the Dolores High School Golf Team to advance to state.
Congratulations and Good Luck at the State Tournament!
