Faith... On Farming

Under the Trump Administration, the current Secretary of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue. Sonny Perdue was born on a farm in Georgia in 1946. He served in the Air Force, and then became a veterinarian, before starting three small businesses. In 1990 he ran for Georgia State Senate. In 2002 he ran for Governor of Georgia, and became the first Republican Governor. As Governor he cut state spending and moved Georgia from last place in SAT scores. He was appointed as Secretary of Agriculture by President Trump in 2016. The United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry approved his nomination with a 19–1 vote. The only vote against him came from Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).
