Happy New Year!
What a whirlwind end of the year - we hope that everyone had some good cheer along with all of the challenges life throws at us. 2020 begins with much hope for the second decade of this century, with potential for revitalization and rededication to our neighbors, our community and ourselves, putting service to others and love above all else.
The Dove Creek Chamber may still have a few 2020 Calendars left for just $5 if you would like to enjoy photos from our County all year round.
By the way, the Christmas Market was a blast! Thanks to all who participated!! Looking forward to growing that December event for next year. Again, this is a community participation gathering - we hope more groups and creative individuals will join in on the second Saturday of the month to be dedicated to shopping local and celebrating Dove Creek for Christmas.
The Dove Creek Chamber is the sum of its parts: the amazing dedicated business owners, and all types of supporters are encouraged that together, we can better grow our collective future. A big thank you to all members and supporters, we will be celebrating our anniversaries in February with the “Luv Dove Creek” membership drive and renewals. Anyone want to have a gala dinner event? We’d love the help to plan something in the off season.
For 2020, we again will look forward to supporting our vitally important non profits in our midst, with a 3rd annual Non Profit and Volunteer Summit. The DC Chamber is thrilled to have non profits be a part of our membership as they are a critical and largely impactful part of our county, both socially and economically.
The SBDC and DCDC are integral in supporting opportunities for continuing education and workshop events; this year the plan is to target some additional themes such as marketing and social media along with quickbooks and other basic business trainings.
2020 Pick 'n' Hoe
The Dove Creek Chamber is remaining as the lead organization for the 65th Pick ’n’ Hoe Celebration this summer - and we are starting early to coordinate fundraisers, getting activities planned, attracting more vendors and working with amazing local resident volunteers to make it all come together.
The 4th of July is on a Saturday, so the pit will start cooking on Wed. the 1st, Thursday the 2nd is up in the air as to activities and participation, but we are definitely on for Friday July 3rd for the dance featuring DJ + Ultra, and Saturday the 4th will be the parade, games, and the live band Cross Roads before the Fire Dept. puts on the exciting Fireworks show. ( Sunday is also tbd as to activities in the park).
If you would like to be involved in a fundraiser, an activity, or to volunteer for a shift, it’s never too early to get in touch. This is our main Community event of the year - let’s all take pride in making it great!
There are additional smaller events the Chamber is working on for 2020 - Memorial May day celebration for our First Responders, Veterans and Service men and women, to be held the weekend before memorial day; possibly a Heritage Day celebration with an Arts and Crafts fair in the spring; the 3 Sisters Ag Harvest Fall Festival; and of course the Photo Contest entries due Sept. 1st for creation of next year’s custom calendar.
There are so many great ideas and opportunities to develop tourism, recreation, and businesses here in Dove Creek, but no one can do this alone. It is a combined effort that we very much look forward to each person’s support and participation in whatever way they are able…. this way, for 2020 and beyond, we will continue to be
“Growing the Future - Together!”
