Ronald C. Barnett 2.16.1943 – 1.28.2019
Ronald (Ron) was born February 16, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the son of William Marvin and Leola LaVada Barnett. He passed away on January 28, 2019 in The San Juan County Hospital in Monticello, Utah, at the age of 75.
Ron was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He loved spending time outdoors surrounded by wildlife and the beauty only true nature can provide. He was an accomplished gardener and spent a good amount of time in the warm summer sun tending and maintaining his yard.
As a young man, Ronald served our country as an Electric Power Productions Operator in the US Air Force overseas in Korea. Upon his return to his wife and family Ron took on many different types of employment before settling in and, as others did in this area, began working in the uranium industry.
Beyond his early mining days, he gave back to the communities he lived in from becoming Sheriff in Dove Creek, CO to seeking and taking on the responsibility of the volunteer firefighting department as the Fire Chief in Lasal, UT.
He and his wife Janice raised three children yet also found it in their hearts to foster several young women they cared for as their own. In his later years and amongst his greatest joys was spending time with and teasing his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, and even some of their friends.
Surviving Ronald is his wife, Janice (Neely) of Cahone, CO; His sons Rick and Cory Barnett of Grand Junction, CO and his daughter Kerry Bynum also of Cahone, CO.; His grandchildren, Kory Barnett, Tyler Barnett, Lucas Barnett, Veronica Barnett, Bhreon Bynum, Brandon Bynum and Brittany Bynum; his eight great-grandchildren; and his youngest brother, Frank Barnett.
